I started out with classic ASP development in the "dot com" bubble-bursting days of 2000/2001. In early 2002, I "graduated" to CF 5 development at mapping-your-future.org where I eventually had the pleasure of working with Chris Cortes (author of Optimizing ColdFusion 5) for over 3 months. He got me thinking more like an "enterprise" developer as we upgraded to CFMX 6.0 and then as quickly as possible to 6.1. Later, I took Adam and David Churvis's unparalled class called the "CFMX 6.1 Master Class" (50 hours in 5 days!)
After that, I moved on to a job at HomeAway.com where I had the pleasure of working in a larger development team (10-20 developers), with QA, designers, CSS/HTML experts, usability experts, true enterprise-level architects, etc. We primarily used the multi-server installation of CF 7 Enterprise there, and I learned about CFEclipse, Ant, scripting SQL server database changes, SVN, CruiseControl, use cases, technical spec writing, etc.
Since then, I've worked at NewsStand.com and lynda.com. At lynda.com, I had the pleasure of working with a number of excellent developers, including author/architect Dan Short and author/UI expert Angela Buraglia.
Next, I was the lead developer in a small company called LandsofAmerica.com, whose future is bright, but alas I had an offer to live and work in Holland, and I couldn't refuse.
I am now the Lead Web Software Developer at PeopleXS.com.
